OUR PHILOSOPHY |
| The concept and philosophy being to ensure that the mother and child unit remain together for as long as is needed in an normal, accepting, non-judgemental environment. Under the supervision of a resident manager and on a rotation basis, the home is run by the resident women themselves who are responsible for the cooking, cleaning, washing, ironing and childcare. |
| In addition, Nkosi's Haven, addresses the issue of AIDS orphans, in as much as those children who are resident with their mother and who, on her request, remain in the care of Nkosi's Haven when she has passed away. All children are educated by Nkosi's Haven, either at a pre-school or model C schools. |
| Since its inception, Nkosi's Haven has secured an additional two properties that will further extend residential facilities and services offered to the resident mothers, children (including the orphans) who are old enough, with empowerment projects such as tunnel farming, basic furniture making, pottery, candle making, beading, quilting and sewing. |
